Hi. My Name is Melissa and I am an eatoholic! I eat when I am happy, sad, bored, not bored. Eating is such a part of my social calendar. I grab breakfast or lunch with friends. I meet them for coffee. My "date nights" with my husband consist of going out to eat dinner. Going to the movies is even difficult. Who doesn't want that bag of popcorn, candy and soda? This week my Mother was in the hospital. I did great the first day as I packed all my food to eat for the day. My plan was so come home and come back the next day. She could not be left alone so I spent the night in the hospital. I was not prepared for the next day or the day after. I tried to make the best healthy choices I could, but did fall back on old habits. Having lost my father this past June to ALS I do believe eating right and exercise can help all of us. Not to mention I want to show this an example to my kids.
Achievements: None! I gained 3lbs. this week. All I can do is recognize my mistakes and start over next week.
Setbacks: Going off my new improved schedule. Not being able to prepare my meals and exercise. Stress. Stress makes us all want the comfort foods.
Tips/Takeaways: Remember how great you feel at the end of the day when you eat all the right foods and drink water? Think about how sluggish and tired and even sick you feel when you don't. Think to yourself as you take a bite of anything-is this worth it? Do you have to have it? If you do go ahead and enjoy! Work out a little extra tomorrow. If your just eating to eat or to make yourself feel better then don't!
