Enthusiasm and motivation are in such supply in the mornings but such demand in the evening! I wake every day with a plan and by the time I get home from work all I want to do is have a glass of wine and some munchies while I wait for my husband to get home and start dinner. This should be the time I'm out walking and getting some exercise and fresh air, which I think would serve the same purpose and give better results!

I'm a 55 year old woman with thyroid problems, lack a decent gym closer than an hour away, sit all day at a desk (and have for more than 35 years), have raised 2 girls who both played sports all year long, so we were always headed to a game/match and either eating at a drive-thru or at the school cafeteria. On other nights dinner was still frozen (lack of planning) so the local pizza parlor was easy and convenient. Homework, washing uniforms, practices kept dinners from being planned and implemented.

So I've been battling the bulge for years. I've tried them all, read them all. Once the girls were away at school I had time to travel to the distant gym. Hired a personal trainer, spent many $$$ on gas to make use of the equipment, pool and classes offered. And the bottom line is, nothing matters except the effort I put into it. All of it. Watching what goes in, and how much goes out (through exercise). It's so tough! Always has been! But for the past few years there has been extra motivation. One daughter graduating college in 2010. A niece's wedding in 2011. Youngest daughter's graduation in 2012. 2013 holds nothing to keep me motivated.

But then the Seven Years Younger plan was an option and motivation, and I decided to give it a try. The first week was easy! Again, the excitement and program was fun to follow. Then the weekend came. Always a problem! Not only that, a particular meal did not do well for me so my motivation was gone. Sound familiar?  Carbs don't work well for me, proteins do. And I was including lots of bread because I love it so! So I got discouraged, ended up out of town for a weekend, didn't journal as I should (and is documented to work) and fell far off the wagon.

As the nutritionist says, RECALCULATE! As is always popular, do as I say, not as I do, because if I did as I should all the time I would never be overweight. Follow me and we'll follow this well worn path to our own path... one that works with our life. It's really not so hard!
